Introducing the Territory jacket, a collaborative build between ButterScotch & Vanson utilizing style elements from two style icons like a waxed trails jacket and Type III to create a truly unique and long lasting outwear piece. Lots of thought went into this piece and we wanted to create something familiar but also a cut above the regular offering out there.
The Start
Concept
The start of the Territory design was inspired by a trip to Vanson HQ back is 2019. I found a prototype leather type 3 in Vanson's Racks that had not been used in production. This was a starting point I then built upon from there. Tweaking fit, revising body specs and slew of other details.

The Territory jacket has gone through numerous iterations from fits, materials, lengths, feel, functionality and a ton of other design modifications. Shown here on the right is a work ticket on our second round of product sampling. Many times we go through 2 or 3 full samples before perfecting the garment.
Production
Introducing the Territory Jacket
After a 3rd and final round of sampling the fit was perfected. I do this by creating a wear sample jacket I personally wear for month on end to ensure the item is wear tested and meets all standards of satisfaction as well as upholds our expectations on materials, snaps and the wearability.
I personally love the way the 14oz waxed canvas ages over time and what better of a silhouette to use then that of a Type III denim jacket that always looks better with age. The waxed outer shell is water resistant and wind resistant, and if you are a rider also slide resistance due to the heavyweight body material. Standard waxed canvas shells are typically made from 8-10oz waxed and we opted to use a sturdy 14oz waxed canvas that has been tested and proven for wearability and longevity. These jackets can always be re-waxed when needed.
We opted for a fully lined body and sleeve for increased comfort, versatility and function. We added lining to the sleeve to keep the waxed fabric off the skin if you opt to wear only a t-shirt or long sleeve layer to avoid tackiness.
Additionally if you are a rider the Territory jacket has a low profile pocket system built into the jacket lining that can accept D30 ghost armor. But don't worry if you are not a rider, you would never even know these pockets are there in the lining. We wanted to create a full functional piece for all walks of life. Built for all of those that are looking for something different that is anything but your average waxed Type III.

The Territory Jacket features high-quality leather trims throughout, enhancing its durability and aesthetic appeal for any condition and territory. The collar is specially crafted from Vanson's E150 leather, a luxurious soft pebbled material, marrying comfort with resilience. This combination of premium materials ensures the jacket is not just built to last, but also to offer superior comfort and a distinguished look.
Hand Warmer pockets are critical and something that we've noticed that always goes on jackets are the pocket bags. We opted for a heavy oz twill to ensure your pocket bags last as long as your jacket and then some.
Everyone is built different and we wanted to make sure you can run your jacket close to the wrist or have the option for a little room if you want to run a glove or gauntlet style with your jacket. Also works great when layering the jacket to avoid bunching at the sleeve opening.
Kidney belt located double snaps helps fine tune the fit of you jacket without the bulk of a buckle back or lace system. Just another way the jacket can be modified to better suite your fitment needs.
All Vanson Items are backed by a year warranty and Vanson stands behind their work. If any item fails or needs repair Bring it back to the shop and we'll take care of you.
