Blog Post No. 50 - Made in Los Angeles Bag Line

For holiday 2024 we wanted to work on a small project of made in LA bags. 

This is something I have wanted to do for some time now and the stars kind of aligned to make something small happen for 2024 holiday season. 

We introduce a 2 bag collection, now I know it's only two pieces, does that really count as a collection? well no, but due to limited fabrics and timing we wanted to create an overnight bag or daily carry set of options for something special this season. If all goes well it is something we will continue to lean in to and develop more as time progresses. 

For our first introduction into our own bag section we kept it simple. 

A simple Everyday Tote and a Carryall Case.

Both the tote and the carryall are made from deadstock materials adding to the already limited production and available quantity of these pieces. 

I've honestly been looking for a simple open top larger tote that I can carry with me in my day to day that can handle a variety of things. My camera, a laptop, gym clothes + shoes, a water bottle you name it. But i wanted something that work esthetically that wasn't too sporty, a nylon gym bag and to be a little bougie I wanted leather straps. Really Just a catch all for the things I'll need throughout the day between running the shop and outside the 9-7 activities that works with just about every outing or outfit. 

The Everyday Tote is made our of an 18oz Deadstock Duck canvas that was hand selected due to is rugged exterior and over time the fabric ages beautifully. 

Internally is lined with a deadstock RRL blanket stripe lining and features a full body length side pocket that can accommodate up a 15" laptop, stack of records, or anything else you want to keep separate from the main storage compartment. Lastly theres one smaller pocket sewn into the top opening of the bag for quicker access things like your keys, pen, phone etc etc. 

 

Additionally, I wanted to create a smaller bag for inside the day to day tote.

Call it a carryall, call it a dopp kit, call it a satchel. It really can be what ever you want it to be and so I named it as such "carryall"

I initially set out to create a dopp kit for the shop as again in need of. I have been carrying the same dopp kit for almost twenty years and the zipper on mine is blown out. So i figured it was time to create something that was unassuming, simple and could be used for just about anything.

The Carry All dimensions are 11" x 7" x 3" (LxHxW) and can carry your toiletries, your camera, cord management, or heck even act a ladies clutch if you wanted. Made from 12oz waxed canvas the carry all is sturdy and rugged as it is simple. The waxed outer shell is built to be a stand alone bag or carried within another for simple storage for whatever you want to put inside. Internally you have a deadstock RRL blanket stripe lining and have 3 side storage pockets and one larger internal pocket that can hold your camera + a multitude of other things. Heavy antiqued brass riri zipper adorned with leather pulls give this a nice hand feel when opening and closing the carry all. 

All bags are cut, sewn and finished right here in downtown Los Angeles with only the best aging quality materials for pieces you can rely on day in and day out.
